Boovie began 9 years ago as an educational exercise intended to inspire students to read organically, away from the threat of grades or the promise of better grades.
Students have the task of creating a trailer! What is a trailer? It is a short video that captures the essence of a book they've read in cinematic language. The trailer should only be a few minutes long, and since its goal is to persuade other students to read the work, a "video summary" is not enough. Therefore, the children are encouraged to read carefully for details and identify the deep meanings of the novel to create a truly successful trailer.
Trailers are made entirely by teams of students, who divide roles among themselves as screenwriters, actors, directors, cameramen, editors, and more.
In an era when digital alternatives are becoming increasingly tempting for students at the expense of reading, we aim to share a love for reading, imagination, and creativity.
Help young talents to develop creativity by expressing their stories through the art of film.
Right from the start, it was clear that Boovie would greatly benefit from a festival where students could participate in person. Because Boovie is a form of non-formal education, the festival includes a multitude of activities for students and teachers: workshops, meetings with writers and well-known names in literature, theater, and film. Pavel Bartoș, Recorder, Ioana Flora, Paula Herlo, Virgil Ianțu, Carmen Uscatu, Valeriu Nicolae, and Adrian Nartea are just a few of the guests who have attended Boovie Festivals so far.
The focus is on students' creations, which are shown on an open stage and can be appreciated by the general public. A specialized jury, composed of professionals from the fields of film and theater, decides the winners of each competition section. The highlight of the Boovie Festival is the awarding of the Grand Prize winners.
Yes, definitely! Starting from 2019, we can proudly say we have the status of an international competition. Boovie is the largest extracurricular competition in Romania and offers students an incredible learning tool: the opportunity to compare the vision and understanding of the same book by students from regions with different histories, cultures, and standards of living. Over the years, we have managed to attract participants from many places: all counties of Romania, Moldova, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, and Greece.
Boovie has truly become a transformative force, motivating over 13,000 students and teachers to develop. We are proud that many Boovie alumni excel in their activities. Just a few examples:
Boovie trailers have been showcased at the European Commission and at the international festival TIFF.
The best investment a nation can make for its development is an investment in education. At Boovie, you can contribute directly and be sure that your donation will help the personal and professional development of the thousands of participating students.
Private contributions are the essential elixir that has allowed Boovie to grow to its current level without compromising the integrity, creativity, or quality of the competition. We are extremely grateful to our donors because they provide us with the reliable support that allows us to offer students a unique and memorable educational experience.
Transparency is a fundamental value for us. Your donation will cover part of the accommodation and meals provided to some of the students qualified for the Boovie Festival, as well as other expenses. In each edition, we make efforts to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent any team from participating in Boovie, being particularly attentive to participants with limited means.
Every contribution matters.
